Man-Power Won’t Win

Let’s talk guns.

When a man picks up a gun, do you know who is in the greatest danger of being shot?

He is.

According to research across the US, guns are used by men to commit suicide far more than to commit a homicide.

This is personal for me. I had a very good friend take his life with a gun just a couple years back.

Let’s just ask. What would drive a good man to turn a gun on himself?

The average man works 9 to 5 for a boss who likely doesn't appreciate or pay him enough money.

He comes home each day exhausted, and his wife asks him how his day was. He replies, “The same as every other day.”

He scarfs down a pizza he picked up on his way home, then plops down in front of the TV, while he aimlessly surfs the internet on his phone.

He watches news stories that teach him to hate - commercials that persuade him to consume - until his hollowed-out brain is left in a cavernous despair.

He feels like his wife doesn't respect him…. his kids never notice him...

He stopped pursuing the life of his dreams a long time ago.

But he has a quick fix.

It’s a coping mechanism that works in the moment. It doesn’t cost a thing, and it rapidly gives his body with the rush it craves.

This routine has become reflex.

When the family retires to bed, he begins another mindless search for his next porn fantasy… and eventually… he engages in another dark escape.

It gets him through one more day.

And do you want to know what the insanity of this is?

This man goes to church. He is respected in his church. But this has been his secret life for years… perhaps decades.

This was my life fifteen years ago. The despair and self-hate I lived in was my little secret. As was my imaginary and empty fantasy world.

Today, my life has radically changed. Yours can too.

But I will tell you this.

I wasn’t transformed by finally summoning enough man-power to say no to porn. And change didn’t come by making a "more serious" commitment.

I had a profound Jesus experience.

That is why we call our Katharos freedom model —- The Jesus Pathway to Purity.

What I’m about to say will likely surprise you — even offend you.

Jesus didn’t give me the power to say no.
He called me to crucify the man that kept saying yes.

I’m going to say it again for those in the back row.

Jesus didn’t give me the power to say no.
He called me to crucify the man that kept saying yes.

Take a look…

“Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.’” Matthew 16:24-25

Everyone wants a resurrection.
But there is no resurrection… without the cross.

The cross and all of its implications introduced me to a resurrected life. It is a life I didn't think was even possible.

Real love.
Real purpose.
Real relationships.

There is likely a man reading this right now who knows exactly what I’m talking about.

Lust has a stranglehold on your life.

If you don’t take action, it won't be long and life as you know it… will be over.

Get help brother.

I have given my life to help men like you. Take a moment to look at the resource opportunities on our site. And pick one. Do something now.

Grace + Peace,

Blaine
